KAMPALA WATER-LAKE VICTORIA WATSAN PROJECT (KW-LVWATSAN) PACKAGE 5B: ACCOMPANYING MEASURES FOR THE PROMOTION OF IMPROVED PRIVATE HYGIENE AND SANITATION AND CORRESPONDING SERVICES IN THE INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS OF KAMPALA

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Governance Systems International is part of  the Consortium led by GOPA Infra GmbH (Germany) which is implementing the Kampala Water-Lake Victoria WATSAN Project (KW-LVWATSAN) Package 5B:

 

Accompanying measures for the promotion of improved private Hygiene and sanitation and corresponding services in the informal settlements of Kampalaon behalf of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)  with financial support from German KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW, lead financing institution), European Union – Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EU-ITF), European Investment Bank (EIB), Agence Française de Development (AFD) and the Government of Uganda (GoU). The project is aimed at setting up and implementation of an appropriate Revolving Sanitation Levy Fund (RSLF), Social and Sanitation Marketing measures, establishment of a suitable legal & administrative framework and establishment of a voucher systems.

 

Specifically, GSI is responsible for social and sanitation marketing measures, training, community mobilization and provision of legal expertise in the establishment of a suitable legal & administrative framework.

 

GSI is also the local focal point II Company providing advice and support for working with informal settlements including facilitating smooth communication in Uganda between the project team, KCCA and KfW Uganda. As a local partner, GSI is also responsible for workshop management
