Feasibility Study for Reorganization of Water Supply and Sewerage Areas in the Urban Water and Sanitation Sub-Sector in Uganda funded by GIZ (April 2016 to December 2016):


GSI is a sub-contractor to RODECO Consulting GmbH, Germany providing legal expertise in carrying out a comprehensive feasibility study on the most appropriate arrangement for the reorganization of the urban water and sewerage service areas in Uganda and to provide a platform to discuss and reach consensus with key stakeholders. GIZ and Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) emphasize the need for the Consultancy to establish linkages and interfaces with respective actors and activities in the water sector in order to create a maximum degree of understanding, agreement, synergy and efficiency.

Developing Benefit Sharing Arrangements for Uganda’s National REDD+ Strategy under the R-PP Implementation Support Project implemented by the Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment (March 2016 to September 2016)


GSI is a sub Consultant to Indufor Oy based in Finland in the review and assessment of the existing Benefit sharing arrangement options for the Uganda’s REDD+ programme. The main objective of this assignment is to develop Benefit Sharing Arrangements for Uganda’s REDD+ Strategy that provides practical and implementable options for benefit sharing schemes based on, i) any existing schemes, ii) options which could be established with low to moderate level changes.

Kampala Water-Lake Victoria WATSAN Project (KW-LVWATSAN) Package 5B: Accompanying measures for the promotion of improved private Hygiene and sanitation and corresponding services in the informal settlements of Kampala (November 2016-October 2020):


GSI is part of the Consortium of GOPA Infra GmbH (Germany)/SEURECA Consulting Engineers (France)/WARNER Consultants (Uganda)/Governance Systems International (Uganda) which is implementing the Kampala Water-Lake Victoria WATSAN Project (KW-LVWATSAN) Package 5B: Accompanying measures for the promotion of improved private Hygiene and sanitation and corresponding services in the informal settlements of Kampalaon behalf of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) with financial support from German KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW, lead financing institution), European Union - Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EU-ITF), European Investment Bank (EIB), Agence Française de Development (AFD) and the Government of Uganda (GoU). The project is aimed at setting up and implementation of an appropriate Revolving Sanitation Levy Fund (RSLF), Social and Sanitation Marketing measures, establishment of a suitable legal & administrative framework and establishment of a voucher systems. Specifically, GSI is responsible for social and sanitation marketing measures, training, community mobilization and provision of legal expertise in the establishment of a suitable legal & administrative framework.
